Daniele Perna began developing the Buddha Bedroom as an exploration of the ideal environment for sleep. The inquiry quickly expanded beyond the room itself: the architecture of the house became essential to dissolving the boundary between interior and landscape. Along the south elevation, pivoting glass doors open the bedroom to the terrace, natural light, and the surrounding Hamptons landscape.
The double-height glazed entrance forms the organizing spine of Buddha House, separating the single-story living and primary-suite wing from the two-story guest and service wing. Within the corridor, a glass staircase ascends to a bridge that crosses the entrance volume and connects the upper guest wing to the expansive roof deck. At ground level, a side door leads to the retractable outdoor kitchen, engineered to be drawn indoors during coastal storms. From the kitchen terrace, a Greek-inspired sequence of broad amphitheater steps negotiates the landscape and leads to the deck wrapping the primary suite and continuing toward the front of the house.
‘I slept the best in my entire life when the bed was in the middle of the room with nothing else. No electronics (TV, Stereo, alarms, or phones etc.) I had the most wonderful dreams. It was as if I was on a mountain top.”

This concept was conceived in the late 1990’s by Daniele Perna when he was reading , learning and researching about frequency and quantum physics. “ Everything around us is energy. Energy is expressed through frequency and frequency moves like a wave all around us.”

He wanted to explore and experiment with his own bed room. Daniele decided to remove all of his bed room furniture out of the bedroom except the bed. He placed the bed in the middle of his master bedroom and slept in it for years in that position.
His theory is that when a bed is against the wall, all energy stops flowing because it is confronted with a dense surface. The frequency ( energy ) is dispersed in a direction that does not flow in a balanced motion.
An ultimate chamber to contemplate the Buddhist principals, meditation, relaxation and communing with nature.
